How long does REUSABLE HAIR really last in Human Hair Extensions?

There are many reusable hair used for human hair extension attachments, just how long do they really last?

4 Most common types are

glue stick/spun/locs

patented Shrink LinksTM

sew/track wefts,

seamless tapes/skin wefts

Before, I explain, let's take a look at an close up magnification of the scalp.

Here you see the 4 most common types of scalps; Healthy Scalp, Skin Scalp {male/female pattern baldness}, Dry Scalp, Reddish Scalp, Oily Scalp.  People may not know this, but the scalp is an extension of the person's face.

Now, knowing the fact that human hair extensions shed, knowing the fact that hair extensions are only attachments which are not growing from one's scalp AND THE SCALP IS RESPONSIBLE FOR REJUVENATING, and knowing the fact that hair extensions are worn every single day {whether at work, at play, during rigorous activities, during any weather conditions, etc,..}, THE MOST ANYONE CAN EVER GET OUT OF ANY RESUABLE HUMAN HAIR EXTENSIONS IS UP TO 1 YEAR.

Never believe stylists who will tell you "this is the finest European hair, which lasts for years and years".  Taking your active lifestyle into consideration, use your common sense.

This is what the average person will expect during periodic wear, regardless if the human hair you bought was cuticle-free or cuticle-intact.

First 3 months- the best wear.  However, if your attachments involves metals, the metals/locs/coils/rings/tubes may chip revealing a copper or aluminum finish.  If your attachment involves tapes, the tapes may peel on its edges.  If your attachment involves sewing, I strongly advise do not have your stylist cut the wefts as this will cause tremendous hair extension shedding.  If your attachment involves shrink links or shrinkies, the links may turn whitish.  Now if have stick/spun/loc hair, your stylist may not need to apply additional glue since the glue may still be harden.

Reusing same hair after 6 months- almost best.  But due to daily brushing for dreadlock-free hair, shedding of the hair is common.  If you have waist length hair, split ends are starting to show.  If your install involves metals/locs/coils/rings/tubes, the glue that is necessary to adhere the loose strands together, are softening and your entire strands of extensions are in need of a complete glue retipping.  This also may be the time when your stylist may sell you additional new hair and may add it your your existing hair.

Reusing same hair after 9 months- almost dead to dead.  If you have removed your entire extensions and weighed it, ounce for ounce, it is much less.  Split ends are very obvious especially if you bought waist length hair {if your stylist did trim the ends, remember that the length is not the same} Now if your install involves metals/locs/coils/rings/tubes, the glue is gone if your stylist did not retip it or the glue may have soften.  I advise you to buy new hair.
